For the Donuts
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (120 ml) buttermilk
(or milk + 1 tsp vinegar) - 1 large egg
- ¼ cup (60 ml) vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup (90 g) mini chocolate chips
🍫 Chocolate Glaze
- 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
- ¼ cup (25 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3–4 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the Batter
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a donut pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, egg, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
2. Bake the Donuts
- Spoon or pipe batter into the donut pan, filling each mold about ¾ full.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
3. Make the Glaze
- In a bowl, whisk powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla until smooth and glossy.
4. Glaze & Finish
- Dip cooled donuts into the chocolate glaze.
- Let the glaze set before serving.
- Optional: sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top for a richer finish.
