🍫 Double Chocolate Cake Donuts

🧁 Ingredients

For the Donuts

  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (120 ml) buttermilk
    (or milk + 1 tsp vinegar)
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (90 g) mini chocolate chips

🍫 Chocolate Glaze

  • 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup (25 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3–4 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Batter

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a donut pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  • In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, egg, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.

2. Bake the Donuts

  • Spoon or pipe batter into the donut pan, filling each mold about ¾ full.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

3. Make the Glaze

  • In a bowl, whisk powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla until smooth and glossy.

4. Glaze & Finish

  • Dip cooled donuts into the chocolate glaze.
  • Let the glaze set before serving.
  • Optional: sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top for a richer finish.
