🍰 Vanilla Chocolate Swirl Cake

A soft, moist cake with a beautiful chocolate swirl—simple, elegant, and perfect for any occasion.


🛒 Ingredients

Cake Batter

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Swirl

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp hot milk or hot water
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    Preheat to 170°C (340°F).
    Grease and line an 8-inch round pan or loaf pan.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients
    In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients
    In another bowl, whisk eggs, oil, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Make Batter
    Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients.
    Mix gently until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. Prepare Chocolate Batter
    Divide batter into two portions.
    Mix cocoa powder with hot milk/water (and sugar if using).
    Stir into one portion of batter.
  6. Create the Swirl
    Spoon vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the pan.
    Use a skewer or knife to gently swirl (don’t overmix).
  7. Bake
    Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool & Serve
    Let cool completely before slicing.
