Orange Cake Loaf 🍊🍰

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1½ cups / 190g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup / 115g unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup / 150g sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ½ cup / 120ml fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • ¼ cup / 60ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Optional Orange Glaze:

  • ½ cup / 60g powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cake

  • Preheat oven to 175°C / 350°F. Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time, then mix in orange zest and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with the orange juice and milk. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

2. Bake the Cake

  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

3. Optional Orange Glaze

  • Whisk together powdered sugar and fresh orange juice until smooth.
  • Drizzle over the cooled loaf for a glossy, citrusy finish.
