Ingredients:
- Unsalted butter (softened) – 225 g (1 cup)
- Granulated sugar – 200 g (1 cup)
- Eggs – 4 large
- All-purpose flour – 360 g (3 cups)
- Baking powder – 3 teaspoons
- Salt – ½ teaspoon
- Milk – 240 ml (1 cup)
- Vanilla extract – 1 tablespoon
Instructions:
- Cream the Butter & Sugar:
- In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- Add the Eggs:
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, making sure each one is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Sift Dry Ingredients:
- Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the batter alternately with the milk. Start and finish with the dry ingredients. Mix gently until smooth and well combined.
- Add Vanilla:
- Stir in the vanilla extract for a lovely aroma and flavor.
- Prepare the Cake Pans:
- Divide the batter evenly between two greased and lined 8-inch round cake pans.
- Bake:
- Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for around 25–30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Cool:
- Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.
